Alanna Alden and Chase Carney, both Chelmsford residents, have been selected as September Athletes of the Month at Nashoba Valley Technical High School.
Alanna Alden, daughter of Rick Murdock and Jennifer Hill, is a junior cheerleader. She is in the Veterinary Science program and participates in Nashoba Tech’s Early College program. She was inducted into the National Honor Society as a sophomore.
Alanna was nominated by cheerleading coach Christine Patenaude, who noted her dedication and leadership.
Chase Carney, son of Paul and Holly Carney, is a senior football standout this year for the Vikings, who started off the season 6-0. Chase excels at wide receiver and safety. Through six games, he had accounted for 11 touchdowns – seven by air, three on the ground and one on a return.
Chase has been inducted into both the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society in the Carpentry program. He is an honor-roll student and a freshman mentor. He also plays basketball. He hopes to attend college and to continue his football career.
Chase was nominated by Athletic Director Matt Dawson, who said of all the players leading the undefeated Vikings more than halfway through the season, Chase has been “our best player.”
