To all baseball players. Below are some activities you can do by yourself and still keeping social distancing.
The best suggestion I have is to just try to get (and keep) the fundamentals going. Run, throw, catch, swing. Always stretch your arms and legs before doing anything.
Catch - As far as home drills, use a tennis ball and bounce off a wall inside or out, practice backhand, forehand and straight ahead with no glove. Make it a competition and only move on when you catch 10 in a row each way. You can do this on a knee or standing up. If you have a partner, and can go outside, have them throw a line drive (or soft fly) a short distance to a players back and forehand. Again, make it a competition, catch 5-10 in a row before switching sides.
Run... Whatever distance they have available, but if they have a 90 foot area, practice running / sprinting that distance 10-20 times a day. Simulate a lead, and then sprinting to a base. They will stay in decent shape by sprinting this distance every day.
Hit - Use a real bat or whiffle ball bat - toss the ball in the air and hit it. Mix it up, use one hand and then both. Sounds simple, but the object is to strengthen your hand eye. If you have a friend or family member available have them soft toss to you.
On Twitter Ryan Dempster has some cool drills for pitchers to work at home. He has grip suggestions and drills - he is at twitter.com/Dempster46
