CATARINA SILVA AND GILBERTO FIGUEROA ARE OCTOBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Catarina Silva of Pepperell (pictured) and Gilberto Figueroa of Chelmsford are October’s Students of the Month at Nashoba Tech, based on the school’s “Portrait of a Graduate” attributes: Resourceful, Responsible, Resilient, Respectful and Ready.

Catarina Silva, daughter of Jose Dasilva and Maria Silva, is a junior in the Veterinary Assisting program. She is an honor-roll student who hopes to attend college after graduation and work in the veterinary field.

Catarina was nominated by English Instructor Angela D’Allesandro for being ready and resourceful.

“Not only is she a polite, well-behaved young lady, but she is a diligent worker and is helpful to others. She displayed such help when there was a recent visit to the school by a Portuguese-speaking family who were having trouble understanding and Cathy translated for them. This is an example of excellent citizenship and readiness that NT promotes in its students.”

Gilberto Figueroa, son of Gilberto Figueroa and Keleigh Silva, is a junior in the Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing program. He is an honor-roll student and hopes to become either a preschool teacher or a police officer.

Gilberto was nominated by Superintendent Dr. Denise Pigeon, who wrote that she observed Gilberto displaying several of the Portrait of a Graduate attributes in the cafeteria.

“Gilberto was escorting another student through the cafeteria serving line and teaching the student how to navigate getting a school lunch,” Pigeon wrote. “His kind actions really stood out to me as a great example of the Portrait of a Graduate. He went above and beyond to ensure a student received their lunch and was comfortable navigating the cafeteria serving area. He was respectful, responsible and resourceful.”
