Junyao Pereira of Littleton and Lena Wilcox of Ayer have been selected as the Students of the Month for December at Nashoba Valley Technical High School, based on the school’s “Portrait of a Graduate” attributes: resourceful, responsible, resilient, respectful and ready.
Junyao Pereira, son of Domingo and Wendy Pereira, is a sophomore who transferred this year from Littleton High School. He is in the Programming & Web Development program and hopes to become a computer programmer and design video games. He was named Rookie of the Year for the golf team this past fall.
Junyao was nominated by Programming & Web Development instructor Chris Egan, who wrote: “Junyao has made the transition to NT seamlessly. Although he missed his freshman year in shop, Junyao has nearly caught up to his fellow sophomores by completing additional assignments. He is respectful of staff and his classmates, shows responsibility in getting his work done, and shows resilience in working on any assignments that may be complex.”
Lena Wilcox, daughter of Ryan and Sara Wilcox, is a junior in the TV & Media Broadcasting/Theater Arts program. She is a high-honors student and a member of SkillsUSA, the Newspaper Club, the Podcast Club and the Viking Theatre Company, recently playing the lead role in the school presentation of “The Mousetrap.” She plans to attend college to study either English, creative writing or theater.
Lena was nominated by science instructor Stacy Lynn Blanco, who wrote: “Lena is an excellent student. She asks many questions in Physics class and she understands the content. She completes every assignment and practices at home. She has been very helpful to other students, as well as to other students during her shop week when they have missed classes. She is a natural leader.”
