Jayden Auger of Pepperell and Colby Catterton of Shirley have been selected as Nashoba Valley Technical High School’s Athletes of the Month for October 2024.
Jayden Auger, son of Gerry and Kristin Auger, is a senior golf captain who also plays hockey in winter and lacrosse in spring. He placed fourth at the State Vocational Tournament and 12th at the State Sectional Tournament. His four-year total of over 1,100 points earns him the honor of most points overall in the history of Nashoba Tech golf.
He is an honor-roll student in the Electrical Technology program and hopes to start his own electrical company after graduation.
Jayden was nominated by golf coach Sayda Betsold, who wrote: “Jayden had an amazing golf season. His hard work has really paid off this year. He held the number-one spot for the team, and his scores qualified him for the State Sectional Tournament. He was the individual champion at the CAC League Tournament, and his scores led the team to second place. He also took the lead as captain, demonstrating true leadership qualities.”
Colby Catterton, son of Cassidy Theriault, is a senior quarterback leading the Vikings to a 9-0 start. He is a freshman mentor and studies Carpentry. In addition to football, Colby plays basketball. He plans to attend college, perhaps to study early education.
Colby was nominated by football coach Kyle Stumpf, who wrote: “Colby has had a long journey to get to this moment. He backed up our previous quarterback for the past three years, and since he has taken the reins as the starting quarterback, he has been named the Boston Herald’s player of the week twice. Colby is a natural-born leader, and the people around him know it, myself included.”
