Golf Team Thanks Program

CHELMSFORD — When Nashoba Valley Technical High School golf coach Fran Zentgraf and captain Alexander Scheufele of Shirley brought a plaque to Chelmsford Country Club, Head Pro and General Manager Gary Burke thought it was for Alexander for leading the team to a strong season.

Little did Burke know the plaque was for him.

Zentgraf couldn’t think of an appropriate way to thank Burke for all he has done for the Nashoba Tech golf team in his seven years at CCC. So instead of saying it, he decided to have it engraved on a plaque.

The plaque reads, “with sincere appreciation for your outstanding contributions to our community and the development of the game of golf for our youth,” and is signed “Nashoba Valley Technical High School’s Golf Team.”

Zentgraf said Burke has been instrumental in helping to develop a lot of Nashoba Tech’s golfers, some of whom have just basic skills when they join the team.

As for Burke, he said he loves to help the kids become better golfers and to see the team improve.

“I’ve been involved with the team since I got here,” Burke said. “We do one or two clinics each year to help get the team started.”
